WASH assessment of Kampala markets

Baseline assessment of water, sanitation and hygiene in Kibuye and Nankulabye markets.

Objective

Provide evidence on water, sanitation and hygiene conditions in two busy city markets to guide the Market Sanitation Campaign.

Why markets

Busy city markets depend on shared toilets, handwashing points, clean water and waste collection. When these fail, vendors and shoppers carry the health risk.

What we did

  • Carried out a baseline assessment of WASH facilities and services in Kibuye and Nankulabye markets.
  • Produced the assessment report for the campaign.

Results

Baseline WASH assessment report for both markets.
